It’s happening. We’re really making some great strides in the community. Our Delegates Assembly, on Monday, February 27, was a night for Common Ground to celebrate our accomplishments and welcome the opportunity for more. With over 190 members, all came away with a feeling that together, we are the positive change.
Our victories are impressive.
- Deacon Michelle Puzin Mooney, shared the headway the Friends of Common Ground Campaign has been seeing.
- Toni Wagner gave us an update the latest news on Milwaukee Rising, who has rehabbed six homes, sold three, and have twenty-one more in the pipeline.
- Finally, Cathy Mahaffey and Bob Connolly announced the news-worthy launch of the Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative, who was recently awarded a $56.4 million loan from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – funds that will go a long way in helping us build the organization and bring affordable health insurance to the region.
After a “How Are We Doing?” report from Arnie Graf, it was on to new campaign items on the docket. Jennifer O’Hear and Pastor Carl Griffin laid out the change we hope to see in tutoring programs via the Education Campaign. Then Pastor Bobby Sinclair and Julie Lange prepared us to
“keep on pushing” towards our Spring Assembly on April 29th, followed by a turnout caucus that have us over our goal of 1,000 attendees.
Rusty Borkin spelled out our next steps – most importantly, if you haven’t already, mark your calendar right now April 29th!
The meeting ended with a singalong of the Common Ground fight song, which made it’s debut thanks to Jim Gramentine & Kay Augustine. Even those of us might not be able to sing a high note would have to agree – our Delegates Assembly marked a high note in our history to date.
