On Sunday, February 10th Eighty-five Common Ground members and guests attended the first ever Suburban/Rural Caucus at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls. The purpose of the caucus was to share stories about the pressures facing families and communities in the suburban and rural areas in and around the Milwaukee region. In addition, attendees identified which of the issues areas they want to work on moving forward: seniors, transportation, youth/family stress, workforce education and/or affordable housing.
Commitments were made to conduct a minimum of 45 Discovery in Group meetings, in which Common Ground members will meet with both groups impacted by the issues area and/or experts in a particular field. Feedback and new ideas from these meetings will help the caucus focus on an issues campaign in the near future.
