“‘The owners of the Bucks have never proven to anyone that they need public money. Nor do they deserve public money,’ said a statement by Jennifer O’Hear and Lloyd Johnson, who co-chair Common Ground’s Fair Play campaign.”
In a recently published Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article, “Momentum for Bucks arena slows as specifics in short supply,” our efforts to educate taxpayers and channel public sentiment have been highlighted. The article explains how Common Ground has been going door-to-door in aldermanic districts to urge constituents to tell Common Council members how they would like to see public tax dollars used – and it doesn’t include paying for a new arena for the Bucks.
The focus has been on Buck’s owner Wes Edens, a primary owner of the mortgage company Nationstar, and how his blighted properties continue burden the taxpayers of Milwaukee. Meanwhile, he and the other Buck’s owners seek public money to help fund their new sports arena as well.
